Oliver's Story is a 1978 American romantic drama film and a sequel to Love Story (1970) [2] based on a novel by Erich Segal published a year earlier. It was directed by John Korty and again starred Ryan O'Neal, this time opposite Candice Bergen. The original music score was composed by Lee Holdridge and Francis Lai.
Full Book Summary. Oliver Twist is born in a workhouse in 1830s England. His mother, whose name no one knows, is found on the street and dies just after Oliver’s birth. Oliver spends the first nine years of his life in a badly run home for young orphans and then is transferred to a workhouse for adults.

Oct 24, 2024 · Oliver Twist, novel by Charles Dickens, published serially under the pseudonym “Boz” from 1837 to 1839 in Bentley’s Miscellany and in a three-volume book in 1838. The novel was the first of the author’s works to realistically depict the impoverished London underworld and to illustrate his belief that poverty leads to crime.
Oliver’s story suggests that regardless of a person’s circumstances, moral choices are possible and that class does not determine morality. Dickens uses Oliver’s trials to critique the Victorian assumption that morality and class are coupled: heroic behavior occurs among both the poor and the well-off, as does exploitative behavior.
