    • 1. (1914–2002), English theatre director; full name Maud Joan Littlewood. She co-founded the Theatre Workshop (1945), which set out to present established plays in radical productions and to stage contemporary working-class plays. She is particularly remembered for her production of the musical Oh, What a Lovely War (1963).
