Jun 21, 2024 · The length of F1 grands prix is decided by an old formula: 305 (the minimum distance of a grand prix in kilometres) divided by the length of one lap (also in kilometres). For example, the grand prix circuit at Silverstone is 5.891km long. 305 divided by that distance gives us 51.77, which rounded up sets the British Grand Prix at 52 laps.
