Forget the $40,000 annual film school tuition you might pay at USC or UCLA. Here, filmmakers learn how to make films for a fraction of that cost. They also learn a particular filmmaking ethos.
Echo Park Film Center is a non-profit media arts organization located in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. We provide equal and affordable access to film/video education and resources via: a community micro-cinema and meeting space. free and nominal cost media arts education programs.
The Echo Park Film Center acts as a hub for highly localized networks of film production and consumption. Moreover, as I describe below, much of their curriculum is oriented around documenting the Echo Park neighborhood, as well as other neighborhoods in the wider city.
