Plot Summary. Humanity is in the Trisolar Crisis, set in an alternative present-day universe where Earth is interacting with an alien civilization, Trisolaris. The United Nations (UN) is seeking a way to survive the invasion of the Trisolaran fleet, which is expected to arrive in 400 years.
Brief Synopsis. "The Dark Forest" takes place in a future where Earth has received a message from an advanced alien civilization known as the Trisolarans. The message reveals that the Trisolarans, due to the instability of their home system, are planning to invade and colonize Earth.
The events of The Dark Forest occur after those in The Three-Body-Problem. Earth is under the surveillance of a hostile alien race known as the Trisolarians that is on their way to invade. Sub-atomic devices known as sophons constantly watch the activities of humans and disrupt any technological advancements.
