Luckily, Star Trek: Prodigy revealed that after Voyager 's finale, Chakotay was promoted to Captain and given command of the USS Protostar, an experimental ship on a return mission to the Delta Quadrant.

They ultimately stop the crew from attempting the maneuver, and rewrite the future, just as Admiral Janeway does in "Endgame".
