After the birth of Tweeny Canova, her first daughter, she closed her radio show with the song, "Go To Sleep, Little Baby", for several years. A 1938 publicity stunt had Canova break her engagement to ventriloquist Edgar Bergen. The cause of the breakup was supposedly dummy Charlie McCarthy.
