Reggie Lewis. Reginald C. Lewis (November 21, 1965 – July 27, 1993) was an American professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association 's Boston Celtics from 1987 to 1993. [1] At the age of 27, Lewis died while still a member of the Celtics, and his number was posthumously retired by the team.
