The school closed after the 2016–17 school year and was merged with Garfield High School. The merged school, initially known as Kenmore–Garfield High School, was housed at the Kenmore High School building from 2017 to 2022 while a new facility was built on the site of Garfield High School.
Jun 3, 2022 · The neighborhood has lost three other schools, leaving it with just five total: the high school, Innes middle school, and Pfeiffer, Rimer and Sam Salem elementary schools. The district only replaced the last two with new buildings. Innes also received a major renovation, but Pfeiffer and the high school building remain largely untouched.

Jun 6, 2024 · In the spring of their senior year, members of the Kenmore High School class of 1996 buried a time capsule filled with pictures, letters and other keepsakes, planning to unearth it 25 years later. In January, Nick Korora, a member of the class of 1996, recalled burying the capsule and decided it was time to open it.
May 10, 2021 · Akron school board names Kenmore-Garfield high school replacement Garfield CLC. The new building that will serve the merged communities of the former Garfield and Kenmore high schools will be called Garfield Community Learning Center, the Akron Public Schools board voted Monday night.
