Twilight Zone accident. On July 23, 1982, a Bell UH-1 Iroquois helicopter crashed at Indian Dunes [ 2 ] in Valencia, California, United States, during the making of Twilight Zone: The Movie. The crash killed actor Vic Morrow and child actors Myca Dinh Le and Renee Shin-Yi Chen, who were on the ground, and injured the six helicopter passengers.
Landis was warned by multiple professionals both before AND during the scene that the stunt was too dangerous, including the warning that they literally "might lose the helicopter," ALL of which he ignored. This has all been testified to by numerous people who were there when it a happened or who issued the warnings to Landis themselves.

A high-school dropout, 18-year-old Landis made his way to Yugoslavia to work as a production assistant on Kelly's Heroes (1970). Remaining in Europe, Landis found work as an actor, extra and stuntman in many of the Spanish/Italian "spaghetti" westerns.

It would turn out later that Landis had been illegally paying Le and Chen under the table to circumvent child labor laws in California.
