Jul 19, 2022 · Both were graduates of the University at Buffalo's pharmacy school. The company bought 20 or so Key Drug stores in 1979 and converted them to Fay's. In 1991, Fayu0019s bought out the 48-store Carls Drug Co., based in Rome, Oneida County.
After the sale of an office-supply division in mid 1996, it consisted of 273 discount drug stores, almost all in New York and Pennsylvania, and one liquor store. More than half of Fay's drug stores were situated in four upstate New York metropolitan areas: Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse.
