He has competed at four Olympic Games, four World Championships and six European Championships.     This is not the first time that the Irish equestrian has missed out on a gold medal. During the Summer Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, Cian became a national hero after his gold medal turn on Waterford Crystal. The glory was short-lived though after jumping to victory the horse failed a drugs test, testing positive for a prohibited drug.
