Columbia Records decided to stick with them. Jerry Weiss left to form the group Ambergris, a clone of BS&T he launched but with himself as the leader. They released only one album in 1970. In BS&T, Weiss was succeeded by Chuck Winfield, and Randy Brecker by Lou Soloff. Dick Halligan moved over the organ and Jerry Hyman joined on trombone.

After those three hit singles (that all made it to #2) they had only three more modest Top-40 hits, with each ranking lower than the last.
