- Almost 15 years after being established, a fire in the library caused damage to the school, suffering a loss of more than $200,000 in funds. The school moved into various areas nearby the city, including the Fairfield Firemen’s Club rooms, the Methodist Church, multiple rooms of the Fairfield Grammar School, and the Suisun Community Club.

It is named after the Armijo family, who purchased one of the original six land grants in Solano County awarded to General Mariano Vallejo. The school serves about 2600 students in grades 9 to 12 from the central part of Fairfield and Suisun City.
Armijo High School is named after Jose Francisco Armijo, who held one of the six Mexican land grants of Solano County before California became part of the the United States. These land grants included northern eastern parts of Suisun Valley and Tolenas Valley.
Armijo has survived a lot of damage; earthquakes, fires, and just trying to cope with time. Although Armijo was scathed a little, it always came through with just a touch more character than it had before. Armijo High School students have always been individuals, just as they are today.
Oct 21, 2016 · 1929: A devastating fire in the library causes extensive damage to the school. 1932: Class of 1917 grad Ernest Crowley, who was blinded in a duck hunting accident as a boy, is elected to the California Assembly, where he serves until his death in 1952.
Aug 19, 2022 · The Armijo High School Class of 1982 celebrated our 40th reunion last weekend and did it in style. The main event was Saturday, and was bookended by a meet-and-greet mixer Friday night and a photo meetup at the old courthouse steps Sunday, followed by brunch at Cast Iron Grill in Suisun City.

Aug 15, 2020 · In 1972, Fairfield Elementary School was established in what is now the Armijo Annex. The elementary school was later absorbed by the ever-growing high school. Armijo continued to evolve in the current century. In 2001, the school began the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.
