(18) I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. “I am”: the Resurrection and the Life. He exists now. If Jesus is indeed alive now, we are to have His heavenly, eternal life now in this earth.
The same word is used of the green grass in Revelation 8:7 and in Mark 6:39, and of the vegetation in Revelation 9:4; but, applied to man, it is generally connected with terror, disease, or death.
