Jan 2, 2014 · God sends them a new prophet: Zechariah. This prophet has colorful visions—messages of comfort and hope to the Jews. It all begins with a simple request: “Return to Me,” declares the LORD of hosts, “that I may return to you” ( Zec 1:3).
In Zechariah’s day, God raised up Persia to conquer Babylon and bring relative peace. The question arises, if the 70 years of Israel’s exile are nearly up, and if there’s peace, isn’t now the time for the messianic Kingdom in Jerusalem?
Apr 6, 2022 · Purpose of Writing: Zechariah emphasized that God has used His prophets to teach, warn, and correct His people. Unfortunately, they refused to listen. Their sin brought God’s punishment. The book also bears evidence that even prophecy could be corrupted.
Zechariah pictures Christ in both His first coming (Zechariah 9:9) and His second coming (9:10–10:12). Jesus will come, according to Zechariah, as Savior, Judge, and ultimately, as the righteous King ruling His people from Jerusalem (14:8–9).
Purpose. Zechariah writes to encourage God’s people to diligent kingdom service in the light of promised blessing founded on the certain coming and work of the Messiah. Zechariah means ‘The *LORD remembers’. ‘*LORD’ is one of God’s names. Zechariah taught people that God remembers his promises. God made promises by his *prophets. One of these promises is that the *Jews would return from *exile. Also, that the *LORD would return with them to his *temple in Jerusalem.
