Soichiro dies of a heart attack before he is able to successfully burn the notebook, and Light pries the notebook out of his dead father's hand. Yutaka Matsushige portrays Soichiro in the television drama.
Dec 21, 2020 · Death Note is a manga series that makes readers think of what true justice really is and many fans consider Soichiro Yagami to be the most honorable hero in it. Soichiro was the chief of Japan's National Police Agency and Light's father. He was very committed to catching Kira and refused to believe that his son could be the greatest serial ...

- He has a strong sense of guilt. Naturally, if Soichiro is such a strong upholder of justice and the law, then the inverse would devastate him. He feels awful just having his son suspected as being Kira, and the stress took a toll on him, as described earlier.
- He puts family first. Soichiro ultimately fights to protect all families from crime, but he's quite loyal to his own. Soichiro stubbornly refuses to believe that his son Light could possibly Kira, and this comes from not only his sense of honor as a police officer, but his intense love for family.
- He gets along with shinigami. This is an odd and amusing part of Soichiro's character. Even though shinigami like Ryuk and Rem represent the Death Note and all its horrors, Soichiro doesn't show much revulsion toward them.
- He burns for justice. It's pretty much a given at this point that Soichiro is firmly a good guy, and wants to uphold the law against evil and cruelty.
- “This world is rotten, and those who are making it rot deserve to die. Someone has to do it, so why not me?” - Light Yagami.
- “The real evil is the power to kill people. Someone who finds himself with that power is cursed. No matter how you use it, anything obtained by killing people can never bring true happiness.”
- “When you die, I'll be the one writing your name in my Death Note. “ - Ryuk.
- “I am justice!” - Light Yagami and L Lawliet.
So my question goes as follows: Soichiro Yagami died a few hours after dealing with Ryuk for shinigami eyes. Shinigami eyes reduce your remaining lifespan by half. Soichiro Yagami died of an earthly cause (that is, he didn't die of his name being written in the death note).
I thought it was a really interesting way to end his character. Soichiro had suffered so much throughout the series. He'd had a heart attack, been shot, imprisoned, shot again and then blown up. He deserved to die happily, it's not a luxury that any other character got in the series.
