I asked a couple of questions about Ichigo's bloodline a few days ago. One of the takeaways is: Isshin didn't have his Shinigami powers anymore when Ichigo was born. Ichigo is Quincy/hollow at birth and later on, Rukia passed her reiatsu to him through that stab, and that turns him into a Shinigami.

At the end of the series, Ichigo is a major power house. He has two power sources, his Shinigami/hollow power and his Quincy power. They're not really different sources, but because Ichigo never really trained his Quincy powers, he can't seem to draw on them all that much aside from using blut vein.
