In regards to the song Dogs, I always associated being “dragged down by the stone” to be a metaphor for how some redneck members of my community would end their dog’s life. Not kidding, there are people in this country who, when their dog is ready for moving on, they would tie a heavy stone around their neck and toss them off a bridge.
