- 2. Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew (A temple made up of beer) While most temples in Thailand are intricately made up of gold, precious stones and jewels, Wat Pa Maha Chedi Kaew is quite unique as it is made up of thousands and thousands of beer bottles.
- The Red Lotus Sea in Udon Thani. If you ever want to see a sea of pink and red lotus flowers, a trip to Udon Thani is a must! Every January, the lake Nong Han in Udon Thani is covered with thousands of water lilies stretching out as far as your eyes can see.
- Sak Yant Tattoo. I am cheating a little bit with this one as it isn’t necessarily a place but it definitely is up there when it comes to unusual things to see (and do) while in Thailand.
- Ayutthaya: Buddha head in tree roots. The stone Buddha head at Wat Mahathat is one of the must-see sites in Ayutthaya. There is also some mystery here because nobody knows for sure how the Buddha head became entwined by the tree roots.
- Bangkok: Cabbages & Condoms restaurant. It’s not every day you get to eat in a condom-themed restaurant. This quirky dining venue in downtown Bangkok features condoms for lampshades, a condom Father Christmas and even the usual after dinner mints are replaced with condoms.
- Bangkok: Robot building. Many first-time visitors to Bangkok will travel past this unusual building on the Skytrain without giving it a second glance.
- Chachoengsao: Giant Ganesh statue. To the east of Bangkok, Chachoengsao province is home to a number of large Ganesh statues. Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist nation, but statues and shrines to Hindu deities can be seen across the country.
