Jun 11, 2024 · A rake board, also known as a verge board or barge board, is a trim board that runs along the slanting edge of a gable roof. This edge, called the rake, is where the roof’s slope meets the end wall.
Rake boards only run diagonally on the gables of a home whereas fascia only runs horizontally along the roof rafters, trusses and gutters. Fascia also protects the entire roof and siding from inclement weather while a rake board only protects the top edges of the siding and brick.
