During the post-game, Morimoto, appearing as a male Swimmer, can be challenged to a battle once per day. Like in Sword and Shield, he gives the player the Oval Charm after being defeated for the first time.

Morimoto designed Mew from the ground up. The sprite, the Pokedex entry, everything. He took his sweet time doing it, too. He completely missed the window of opportunity to include it in the game. After extensive beta testing, the team cleared out a mere 300 bytes from the cartridge’s source code.
Oct 3, 2019 · Morimoto differs from all the gym leaders because he opens up with a random pokemon from the set (all Morimoto battles are single battles at the time of making this guide). This does not mean he'll throw in Machamp after his first Pokemon has been defeated. Look at the Morimoto set you're battling.
