Well, there have been a number of posts expressing frustration at Nintendo over patching glitches. If that's all you've seen, then it'd be easy to assume that was the general consensus. Same if you'd never seen such frustration and consequently assumed everyone was chill about.
It doesn't exist in the Wii version because of the way they implemented motion controls. So unintentionally, Nintendo updated TP on the Wii to not have this particular glitch even though the purpose of the patch was not to fix it

However, rather than patching the game itself, Nintendo released a free downloadable utility which would patch the player's save file instead to allow further progress through the game. There was a similar bug in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, although Nintendo did not make a save file patch available for the Wii version of the game.
