  2. Provenance of artwork: Sir John Morphett and thence by descent to Derek Morphett. John Morphett was born 4th May 1809 in London England a son of Nathaniel Morphett and Mary, née Gliddon, of Cummins, Ide, Devon. On 15 August 1838 Morphett married Elizabeth, the eldest daughter of J. H. Fisher.
