Permalink. 7/10. Highly underrated picture. gridoon 22 December 1999. "The Chase" is a powerful and underrated drama. It has most of the ingredients that are required for a solid dramatic picture: exceptional acting (particularly by Brando), careful directing, well-drawn characters and good production values.

The latter begins with a story which, while perfectly adequate and engaging, morphs into a different beast altogether at one critical moment.

The Chase is a film that gets caught between way more than two stalls. It starts off brilliantly - the opening credits scene, and just after, is stunning. It hints at a thriller of huge potential, and even thereafter does a fine job of introducing its large cast of characters - and WHAT a cast it is too, goddamn.
