   Due to their small numbers and mixed success, it was almost inevitable that the P2s would be rebuilt by Thompson. Between January 1943 and December 1944, all six were rebuilt as A2/2 Pacifics. Although often described as a mixed success, the P2s were a bold step forward for British locomotive design.
