Jan 22, 2024 · Looking at a bike with full Suntour suspension and I have real reservations about it. The price is decent for the bike, but just can't get past the ST stuff. Fork is a 36RC2 and the shock is a RS129 Trailair 3CR, of which I have zero knowledge of this stuff.
Aug 4, 2010 · I've heard that Suntour's forks are better than RST's forks, which is nice. But think of it as more of a placeholder. Sooner or later, you'll break it or it'll freeze, and then you can replace it with either a rigid or a "real" fork. Just ride some bikes and buy your favorite.
Not necessarily better. It depends on the fork/shock. Air is generally lighter and offers a finely tuneable spring weight. Air typically requires more servicing though, coil feels better for longer intervals. Air shocks also don't do as well with heat (long descents).
