Because the norm is to binge watch series, people will easily spend 3 or 4 hours in a row watching series. Movies that only tell a conclusive story in 2h will feel underlived in comparison. This is also why I think movies now are split into parts or 'vague' sequels (like the MCU movies).
Aug 18, 2024 · Preacher nearly became a film before the successful AMC TV adaptation, with multiple directors and a screenwriter interested in the project. While Garth Ennis had no issue with a film adaptation, turning Preacher into a TV series allowed for a more thorough and successful adaptation.
A TV adaptation for the comic book series had been planned in 2006, when Mark Steven Johnson purchased the rights and pitched the series to HBO. Johnson was a big fan of Preacher, but he believed that a two-hour movie would not be able to do justice to the property.

Supernatural elements, powers, mysteries and uber-violence – it’s all a powerful (and entirely novel) mix. With a great cast on top of it all, Preacher appears to be a sure-fire hit, as it's already garnering rave reviews.
