Too scary for the ages it will appeal to most. The movie itself was pretty good. Creative concept that the Dinos evolved to farm and cultivate while the child was feral. The scariness that was mentioned (death of the father mostly) was in line with basically all other kids’ movies where parents die.
The main problems aren't the violence or the art style. This is one of the best looking pixar movies, but the main problem is many including myself find the story to be 90% filler. Also compare the plot to something like toy story or the incredibles where interesting stuff is constantly happening, and this movie looks boring in comparison.
None of the Pixar films are straight bad films, The Good Dinosaur is only 'bad' in context to other Pixar films. When people are used to you getting A's and B+'s and then you get a straight C people wrongly overreact and call it bad. Not a bad movie but it's premise doesn't really make a lot of sense.
