Apr 4, 2023 · Re: Is this genuine BT email? I've just had a similar one, purportedly from btcomms@laylahillauthor.com. Again, not a BT domain, so clearly a scam. I've reported it to BT and Action Fraud. Seems there must be a current wave of these that BT's spam filters are failing to recognise and block. 0 Ratings.

The reason that the genuine domains have been blocked is because the scammers are "spoofing" their scam emails to appear as though they have come from a genuine domain, ie microsoft ect, than the domain that they were actually sent from. Email addresses can be anything then @ followed by the domain, the 'anything' before is typically a username or subdomain. If its seemingly from BT, forward as attachment to phishing@bt.com, if not report@phishing.gov.uk. Handling scam texts. If you can see the number, check whether it's genuine by searching online.

Aug 28, 2023 · The email is NOT from a BT domain and is clearly a scam. I've marked it as spam, blocked the domain from which it came (maidence.com), and forwarded it to phishing@bt.com and report@phishing.co.uk (Action Fraud).
