- That being said, players should be prepared, as this is not explicitly labeled a horror game. Overall, The Forgotten City's ideal audience would be a teenage or adult player looking for a balance of mystery and horror, not younger or casual players focused on historical realism or critical thinking skills.

age 15+. Good But Can Be Disturbing and/or Creepy. In all, it’s a really good game about a quaint Roman town where if one person sins, everything is destroyed unless you go through a time portal. It is slightly creepy, as statues dotted around the place turn their heads towards you when you are not looking.
TL;DR: If you, like me, are expecting something like Outer Wilds, you'll be disappointed. If you want to resolve the game's mystery by solving puzzles, you won't. But as a very short adventure game, it's good. 342 votes, 20 comments. 3.3M subscribers in the Games community.

The Forgotten City is really delightful if you're in the mood for a bit of a mystery - its world is ripe for exploration but contained enough to feel hand-designed and easy to tackle. There's a great cast of well-acted and convincingly written characters whose motivations you'll uncover, and some fun twists to experience. It's far from AAA in execu...
The Forgotten City begins with you waking up beside a river, greeted by a friendly stranger who explains that she found you near the ancient ruins a stretch of your legs away. When you go off to explore them at her request, searching for another lost friend, things get timey-wimey. You're thrust back into the Roman Empire, finding a lost city full ...
The real pleasure of The Forgotten City is two-pronged. You'll spend a lot of your time chatting to strangers, figuring them out and helping them with problems they've got. Some of the time, you'll make a mistep in conversation and piss them off, abandoning them until your next loop. Other times, you'll make a breakthrough that helps you untie a fe...
For a game produced by a tiny team with a background in modding, The Forgotten City also looks really pretty most of the time - its vignette of ancient Rome looks delightful, and there are loads of interesting historical tidbits to be found if you root them out. Character models in particular look great, if occasionally glassy-eyed, and their voice...
This is a great, puzzling mystery game that draws you into a story and lets you figure out its twists for yourself, while smoothing the way with smart decisions - it's well worth trying for yourself.
Jul 28, 2021 · The Forgotten City is an incredibly unique and self-aware adventure game that does a fabulous job of exploring complex ideas stemming from a basic question: “what is objectively good?”

Jul 28, 2021 · The Forgotten City is a mystery adventure game of exploration and deduction. Travel 2,000 years into the past and relive the final days of a cursed Roman city, where if one person sins, everyone dies. Combat is an option, but violence will only get you so far.
