I consistently name Synecdoche, New York as one of my favorite films because of not only how personal it is, but how funny and entertaining it becomes. Its set designs are kind of an adult theme park for neurosis, where an unsustainable relationship is characterized—literally—by a house on fire.
Written and directed by Charlie Kaufman (Adaptation, Being John Malkovich), this is a classic Kaufmanesque work: bold, bizarre and utterly baffling.
