•Tips and Tricks for Mastering Stealth
You can kill multiple people while hiding within one hiding spot. So whether you want to stay put in your gazebo and grab any passerby or just completely load up the nearest hay bale, you shouldn’t hit any limits!
Whistling near multiple guards will draw the attention of all of them, but only one will come to investigate. But be sure you don’t take anyone out until the others look away first!
Be extremely careful when Assassinating an enemy. Unlike previous games, assassinating an enemy from tall grass will not disguise Basim from anyone in eyeshot. This makes whistling to grab a nearby guard's attention very dangerous, as it will cause everyone in that direction to look your way, not just the target! If you must use this technique, make sure that both Basim and the target are obscured in some way as you kill them.
Alerted guards will only notice Basim in the tall grass when they’re almost on top of him. With this extra leeway, this can be easily exploited to draw guards behind cover before killing them, allowing you to conceal the attack and their bodies.
While dealing with guards in a compound or on the streets of Baghdad, be on the lookout for objects in the environment that can help you. If you’re running away from guards, look for wooden scaffoldings, as you can tear these down to take out and slow down your pursuers.
You can also use bags of red powder to your advantage by hitting them with a blade or throwing knife to instantly create a cloud of smoke, allowing you to assassinate enemies unnoticed or simply escape.
If you have done even a little exploring, you’ll probably have noticed plenty of red fire pots lying about the streets, and they do exactly what you think they will – they’ll explode when struck, perfect for taking out guards at a distance, although not particularly subtle.
If you want to get creative, you can carry the smaller pots and throw them at your enemies or place them somewhere nearby as a distraction. To get started, simply pick one up and then aim and toss it, or strike it with a throwing knife from a distance to go unnoticed and watch as the chaotic distraction unfolds.
Look for links in ropes that you can break with your throwing knives. These links are typically found holding up heavy cargo above guards that you can then send crashing down on top of them.
You can also find these links in enemy outposts holding up the alarm bell – breaking this link will disable the alarm.
Rope links aren’t the only thing you can break with throwing knives, as barred doors and windows work similarly. So, should you have a view of a barred door from outside a locked room, scope the area, as there’s a chance you may be able to toss a throwing knife at it to break through the wooden barricade.
Furthermore, if there are any loose throwing knives lying around, this usually indicates that there is a use for them nearby.
If you've spent minutes casing an outpost with Enkidu by marking every guard in a given area, consider saving before making your first move. If you end up reloading your save to try again, all of the marked enemies will still be marked when you return to the save you made, keeping you from having to repeat the process over and over again with each attempt.
You can make a quick save from the inventory screen or a manual save from the menu, but you won't be able to do this while in a restricted area.
Dropping onto the ground will create noise that attracts guards, even from a relatively low height. So, if you’re navigating a restricted area or looking to evade guards as you attempt to lower your notoriety, make sure you’re extra cautious when climbing down to the ground, as you may attract unwanted attention to your location.

- Disable Bells. You will find small links that normally hold up heavy objects such as stones or sacks. By destroying these links, the heavy object will fall and take out any hostiles under it.
- Explosive Pots. You will see plenty of red pots with flames in the game. These can be utilized in many different ways. If you see some guards by one of these pots, you can use a throwing knife to cause an explosion to take them out.
- Use Environmental Objects. When you see some guards near a Red Powder Bag, you can destroy the back to fill the area with a cloud of red smoke. This will give enough time to take them all out.
- Know When To Run. Sometimes, things do not go as planned, and the guards will become aware of you. Do not feel like all is lost and that you need to get into a full-on fight because the element of surprise is gone.
