Sep 15, 2020 · I have a Ryzen 9 3900x cpu and the stock wraith prism cooler that comes with it. The cpu runs at a constant 3-10% usage and a temp of around 43C, but the fan is revving constantly from 1600rpm and 2200 rpms making this insanely loud.
- Custom fan profile in bios: -minimum fan speed of 60-70% at 60C -medium fan speed of 80-85% at the same temp -100% at 90C
- The Wraith Prism is just good enough for a 3800x and it's load under full load. I can't imagine it does well with the 3900x. Replace the Wraith.

Apr 6, 2020 · If the temperatures are within specs and not overheating or running hot then it is just the fan is noisy when running 100%. As long as the Prism is on evenly, tightly, and snugly without any signs of being loose than I wouldn't worry about it unless the sound changes to something like a rasping or scraping sound which can indicate damaged or worn out bearings.

Feb 8, 2024 · The stock cooler is designed to operate within limits of stock settings, so outside of doing a well designed undervolt and replacing the stock TIM with something quality (which involves money), there's a hard limit on a block of aluminum. Ryzen 7950x3D PBO +200MHz / -15mV curve CPPC in 'prefer cache'. RTX 4090 @133%/+230/+1000.
If you do like long renders it will probably get loud. Just don't buy the 3800X, another 40W for 1-2% gains. Also costs more upfront. Don't know how the 2000 series is. But the temperature that the mobo reads on my 3800x is the single core temp. Cuz my 3800x switches cores and sometimes only uses 1 or 2.
