Jun 1, 1985 · Hemingway's crisp prose and direct style brings the summer of 59 in Spain to life. Two great bullfighters duel for status as the best. As much as the description of the cruel deaths of the bulls disturbed me, Chapter 11 is one of the better pieces of writing to be found anywhere.
