- Perhentian Island. One of the best spots to go diving on the west coast of Malaysia is Perhentian Island. It consists of two Island-Pulau Besar and Pulau Kecil.
- Tioman Island. Just like Perhentian island, Tioman island is also located off the east coast of peninsular Malaysia and a really good destination to go diving on the west coast of Malaysia.
- Pulau Payar. Pulau Payar is a popular diving spot, especially in northern part of peninsula, Malaysia. It is part of a marine group, providing its marine life additional protection.
- Segantang Island. Segantang Island is one of the most remote and the furthest island from the mainland in Langkawi. This Island is a popular diving destination among tourists who want to spend quality time with their loved ones in a peaceful atmosphere.
- Sipadan Island. Sipadan Island, also known as Pulau Sipadan, is a little island in Sabah that gained protected status in 2002 and is known by many divers as one of the best diving spots in the world.
- Mabul Island. Another island famous worldwide among scuba divers, Mabul Island is best known for its amazing muck and critter diving conditions. There is a superb variety of scuba diving sites to enjoy in Malaysia, from fringing reefs to plunging wall dives, and even muck diving for critter lovers. Good shore diving is also possible on some islands, such as the Perhentian Islands, Mabul Island and Kapalai.
- Sipadan and Mabul. These two islands are world famous among scuba divers. Sipadan boasts phenomenal coral reefs and walls, an abundance of turtles, pelagics, sharks, rays, schooling fish and impressive biomass.
- Sibuan Island. Located within reach of Semporna (and within the Semporna Marine Park), Pulau Sibuan is often overshadowed by nearby Mabul and Sipadan but for muck enthusiasts, this spot does not disappoint.
- Redang Island. Redang Island lies within the Terengganu Marine Park, nearby the city of Kuala Terengganu, at the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Redang offers great dive sites and perfect dive conditions.
- Lang Tengah Island. Located between the islands of Redang and Perhentian (see below), the smaller, and lesser-known island of Lang Tengah offers great diving opportunities.
