Chris feels self-conscious about his weight, so Peter decides to put him through a Twinkie-chasing workout routine. After failing to shed any pounds, Peter is convinced that his son needs liposuction. Chris refuses, and Peter decides to suck out his fat instead.
A common theme in early Family Guy episodes was to take a real life sitcom scenario and completely turn it on its ears by unleashing Peter Griffin on the issue. Struggling with self-esteem is a common theme that many family sitcoms tackled at the time, and part of what made Family Guy so brilliant was its ability to take these themes and really have fun with it. Instead of making the episode a journey about Chris' self acceptance, we have Peter Griffin undergo the liposuction and plastic surgery and get special treatment by everyone around him just because he's suddenly become beautiful.
Once Peter has plastic surgery done, he gets to cut ahead of everyone at the grocery store lineup and gets to join the "prestigious" Quahog Beautiful People's Club. As usual, all of this newfound success goes to Peter's head instantly, and he replaces the face on his wedding photo (Lois'), leaves poor Chris outside of the Beautiful People's Club when the "fat boy" isn't allowed to go in, and his ultimate undoing – he can't stop staring at himself while driving. These leads Peter to crash his car and through bizarre sequence of events, end up in a large vat of Lard that he has to eat his way out of, thus regaining all the weight he ended up losing in the first place.
