Jul 8, 2015 · Album Rating: 3.5 | Sound Off. Album has traits of what would make Harmonium, well, Harmonium, though this is more folkier and is more akin to Octobre's debut. Funny how both bands' debut albums were folk-tinged and both went in very directions after wards.
Review by Sean Trane. SPECIAL COLLABORATOR Prog Folk. This album is really the start of it all: superb vocals harmonies, two acoustic guitars and an electric bass; not your standard prog lp but splendid songwriting in French, sung with a mild Quebec accent.

Harmonium is the eponymous debut album by Québécois folk rock band Harmonium. It was originally released on February 20, 1974, by Celebration Records, a subsidiary of Quality Records in Quebec.

It's funny, in Quebec, L'Heptade is the favorite album, it's considered their masterpiece, but everytime I see someone talk about Harmonium outside the province they all seem to prefer Si on avait besoin d'une cinquième saison.
Compared to the pleasantness of ‘Les 5 Saisons’, it is by turns dramatic, melancholic, moody, ambient, rhythmic and gentle. Some songs are upbeat, featuring joyful multi-vocal harmonies, folksy positive, (Le Premier Ciel, Chanson Noire) but others are sombre ballads, dripping with sadness (L’Exil, Le Corridor).
