Jhen is largely a largely simple fight, and certainly the most typical of a game boss. You want to focus on using the Ballista cannons to launch shots at Jhen’s tusks or the artillery cannon, dealing damage at range constantly, moving around the boat to react to attacks as spotted.
Soloing Hallowed Jhen is much easier with HBG (pierce1/2/3+normal3 destroy 3U Elder Dragons not named Alatreon, who instead falls to Kelbi Bow kek), but certainly doable with any weapon solo. Though its elemental weakness is [ Fire ], it is probably better to use [Slime] in some cases.
At the start of the final showdown it's kinda up to you. For the first few steps Jhen is behind an invisible wall, so you can't actually get to him immediately, and if you kill him too near this wall, you can't carve him. So in all situations it's better to wait a little bit.
