Both sides
- eBay is somewhat unique among ecommerce marketplaces with it's old school system that allows feedback to be left from both sides of a transaction, (notably most competing platforms do not allow feedback to be left for buyers) and they may be looking to move to a more "industry standard" experience.

Nov 10, 2018 · That may seem like a paradox until you consider the one-sided nature of the eBay feedback system: eBay buyers are free to rate sellers how they choose, but sellers may only leave positive feedback for buyers.
One negative feedback isn’t going to tank your sales. Frankly even 100’s, maybe even 1000’s won’t. As long as your consistently give good service it’s not going to stop people from buying from you, especially if your deal is the best for them.

Seller feedback used to be central to a merchant’s reputation, but eBay has changed a great deal over the years and has watered down the importance of feedback considerably. Why would they do that? Well, the world has changed. Not so long ago, auctions were the standard listing format on eBay and the whole process was novel, fun and innovative. Tod...
eBay’s original scheme for its best sellers was the PowerSeller program, which shut down in 2021. One of the requirements was a positive feedback score of 98% or higher, so you did need good feedback to become a PowerSeller. However, PowerSeller ceased to have any tangible benefits several years before, so it was little more than an honorary status...
Your seller feedback score is based on a buyer’s experience with you, and their satisfaction with the product they purchased. Buyers can leave feedback on any transaction that they’ve had with a seller over the previous 60 days. A buyer’s feedback for a seller is made up of three parts: 1. An overall feedback rating which can be “positive,” “neutra...
Like the feedback score, the positive feedback percentage is a little more nuanced than you might expect. It’s not simply the total amount of positive feedback received divided by the total feedback received, because it: 1. Only includes feedback for transactions within the last 12 months. 2. Excludes feedback for repeat purchases (from the same bu...
eBay doesn’t say what percentage of buyers leave feedback, but it’s clear that it has declined over the years and now only a minority of buyers leave positive feedback. Judging from eBay’s community forums, buyers leave positive feedback on between 20 and 30 percent of successful transactions, whereas unhappy buyers will leave feedback about 90 per...
An eBay seller’s feedback score and positive feedback percentage both come from the feedback they receive from buyers – positive, neutral or negative. But buyers can also submit seller ratings(formerly known as detailed sellers ratings or DSRs) which provide information on four different aspects of your service. Each seller rating is scored out of ...
Improving your eBay feedback score and positive feedback percentage is not rocket science. You just need to: 1. Get as much positive feedback as possible. 2. Get as little negative feedback as possible. 3. Try to get negative feedback removed. It’s useful to look at each of those separately. Thinking about how to get as much positive feedback as po...
There are two aspects to getting more positive feedback as an eBay seller. First, do whatever you can to make sure your buyers are happy. Second, try to get your buyers to actually leave you feedback! Your buyers are more likely to be happy if you: 1. Have accurate, detailed listings so buyers are more likely to purchase the correct item and not ge...
It might feel more comfortable to focus on the positive, and think about how to make customers happy, but it can also be very useful to think about what makes them unhappy. While some people just want to find fault regardless of what you do, and sadly others will try to rip you off, most of the time there is a valid reason for receiving negative fe...
There are four ways that negative feedback can be removed: 1. Automatically by eBay, under a few circumstances such as an unpaid item case against the buyer or a Money Back Guarantee case found in your favor. 2. Following a manual review by eBay, in limited cases such as when there was a failed delivery attempt or the comment contained profanity or...
Nov 5, 2021 · No bushes harmed there. Is it so difficult, eBay? Under the right circumstances, eBay feedback can be removed. Here’s what that could look like: The buyer opens up a case against you (item not as described, item not received) and also leaves negative feedback.
We do not allow feedback that is harmful, inappropriate or irrelevant as this reduces trust between buyers and sellers, and undermines the feedback system. You’ll find more detail below on situations in which we remove feedback.
You can leave feedback for up to 60 days from the date you received your item or from the estimated delivery date, whichever comes first. If no estimated delivery date is provided, you have up to 90 days from when you completed your purchase to leave feedback for the seller.
