It's not a very long game and there isn't a DLC. I bought a PS3 just to play Demon's Souls after I finished Bloodborne, I believe. Now that there's a PS5 version of the game I'd probably skip the original, save your money and get a PS5 to play the less janky version.
Contrary to what some people say, the original Demon's Souls still plays well. Yeah you'll have frame drops in certain areas and during certain sequences, but overall it's 100% playable. The amount of jank is often exaggerated, and in any case almost all of that jank is present in the remake.
