If you're a fic-writer, what is it about your fic(s) that makes you classify them as 'darkfics'? Right now, I'd personally define darkfic as, at their core, the kind of stories that need to be front-loaded with warnings.
For many who enjoy dark fic it's a thing of pain and relief. Bad things happen, yes, but theý have to for the comfort to follow. I have a fic where I have one character excessively torture the other for plot reasons, but also for delicious guilt and healing after (trust me, within the story it makes sense.

A funny thing about darkfic is that it’s really common for an audience to receive a fic as light based on superficial qualities when the plot is really dark. WALL-E has a bright color scheme but it’s a dystopia where the Earth is uninhabitable and the humans only live to consume.
