I would say the 80 hours was worth it for getting in on a Steam sale for very cheap. Wouldn't pay full price for it. The Blood and Gold mod is how I found M&B originally. I wanted a good pirate game, and instead got a 10-year addiction.
Sure the game isn't as smooth as mount and blade and some of the designs are weird but the rest of the game is good. The missions are entertaining, the naval assault of a fort is cool, the story mode is fun and the theme hasn't been done before.
Jul 9, 2016 · Blood and Gold is the most fun pirating game I've played (beats Sid Meir's and Sea Dogs in my book), and there is a ton to do. Mission variety is much better even than warband. Assination missions, bodyguard missions, take over mines, raid aztec temples, dress as indians and slaughter an army camp, burn ships, this is fun stuff.

It’s built on the Mount & Blade: Warband engine, which was released in 2010 and itself a moderate update of 2008’s original Mount & Blade, which in turn looked like a game from the decade before and played like a sandbox adventure even older.
