Fascinating old -and restored - buildings in this monasterio, including an old church, a crypte and great garden. We spent nearly 2 hours here and there is no cafe or cafetaria. A must see! I recommend the audio tour as many text is in Spanish only.

Before visiting the Yuste Monastery, you can’t help but wonder what could have led a great emperor like Charles V to choose this place, in the province of Cáceres, to spend the last years of his life.
Top choice in Extremadura. In a lovely shady setting 1.5km northwest of Cuacos de Yuste, this monastery is where Carlos I of Spain (Charles I; also known as Carlos V of Austria) came in 1557 to prepare for death after abdicating his emperorship over much of Western and Central Europe.
The Yuste Monastery is known worldwide as the last resting place of the Emperor Charles V and is currently the venue for the award ceremony of the Charles V European Award in a ceremony presided over by His Majesty the King.
