      • There's no denying that Yakuza 3, even in its remastered form, is rough around the edges -- especially if you're coming off the back of Yakuza 6, Kiwami 2, or Judgment -- but this is still one of the series' better instalments, and for our money, the best of the PS3 Yakuza trilogy.

  2. Overall I'd say it's a good game with plenty of flaws and a remaster that makes some of the gameplay even more frustrating than it was intended for no good reason. Definitely ranks on the lower end of the Yakuza spectrum, but it's a very important game still that I wouldn't skip.

  3. I got Yakuza 3 and 4 Remastered in my Steam account and just finished 2. Yakuza 3 seems to have been considered disappointing by many, up to the point where Kiwami 2 even has a substory obliquely referencing this with the woes of a movie director.

Yakuza 3 introduces Kiryu as he remains up through Song of Life– as a stern but loving father figure. He runs the Sunshine Orphanage and serves as the beloved patriarch to a ragtag gang of children. Much of the early game concerns Kiryu solving whatever goofy conflicts the kids get into, which is charming and sweet. However, his former life comes c...

Yakuza 3’s mechanics are a far cry from the blistering perfection of Yakuza 0 and Kiwami, or the physics-based chaos of Song of Life and Kiwami 2, but that doesn’t mean they’re bad at all. This game established the template that the next few games would follow, on a mechanical level, and that speaks a lot to how rock solid they are. The combo and l...

Yakuza 3 Remastered is the definitive version of my second-favorite Yakuza entry. The restoration work done on the game ensures that newcomers who hopped on the Yakuza 0 bandwagon will have a great time playing these older games, while people who enjoyed them the first go-round will love to see the restored content, new translation, and expert face...
