So I just found out about trakt.tv, you can mark titles you've seen, add to watch lists, and get recommendations, etc. But before I invest some considerable time marking all the movies and tv shows I've watched, is there a better site for this? The site looks intuitive and sleek but I'm not sure how comprehensive their database is.
Trakt is best used with Kodi which doesn't have default tracking features. Given specific addins you create lists in trakt which you can view in kodi to watch without searching. Its a website where you could easily track your favourite movies, anime and tv shows. It also integrates with alot of apps, Plex and Kodi. Its been there for a long time.

On Trakt, you have to go to your History page with the text appearing in small font next to the date. Trakt is certainly the most responsive app out of the bunch and has a fairly sleek user design.
