- Type the TinyURL into your browser's address bar, but do not press "Enter". If the TinyURL in question is a clickable link embedded in a Web page, right-click it, select "Copy Link" and then paste it into your browser's address bar -- but again, do not press "Enter".
- Add the word "preview," followed by a period, into your browser's address bar, immediately before "tinyurl". For example, if the original TinyURL you want to check is "tinyurl.com/161," you would end up with "preview.tinyurl.com/161" in your address bar.
- Press "Enter". You will be redirected to a preview page that openly states the address to which the TinyURL would redirect.
- Examine the address. If the address is for a website you know to be safe, click "Proceed to This Site". If you are unfamiliar with the address or have any reason to suspect it may lead to a malicious website, select the URL, press "Ctrl-C" to copy it to your clipboard and then paste it into a link scanner service such as URLVoid, Sucuri SiteCheck or AVG Threat Labs (see Resources) to check it.
