Boarding school is scary. It's a big change, and there's some aspects that are really hard when you once move there. As a freshman prefect, I saw a lot of kids go through stages of homesickness. That being said, Thacher is very good at making you feel welcome.

Thacher is an exceptional school because of its academics, its horse program and its environment, but the community stands above everything. If I was able to return to Thacher without the classes and the stress, I would do so in a heartbeat.

Apr 28, 2024 · Thacher has a lot of flaws. Like all elite boarding schools in this country, it is rooted in whiteness and privilege. The MTO report and change in leadership has fractured the school. HOWEVER, it is a truly special place for growth and friendship.
