Stonehearst Asylum, previously known as Eliza Graves, is an American psychological horror film directed by Brad Anderson and written by Joseph Gangemi. It is loosely based on the 1845 short story "The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether" [3] by Edgar Allan Poe.
The ending of “Stonehearst Asylum” reveals a shocking truth that turns the entire narrative on its head. Throughout the film, we follow the story of Edward Newgate (played by Jim Sturgess), a young medical school graduate who arrives at Stonehearst Asylum for his psychiatric training.
Yes the story is based on a Poe story, but instead of finding it eerie I found myself laughing out loud at some parts,(maybe that's just me). If you haven't seen the trailer then all the better, a few twists and turns become apparent about 30mins into the film.
