  1. For the perception of the mainstream public, how geeky is STAR TREK? Is its fandom more geeky or nerdy than say that of Star Wars or Lord of the Rings? Is it less mainstream accepted than those 3? I've come across quite a few different Trekkies in my life. Both my father and his father were fans. But I do wonder if it's the perception of Trek fans.

  2. Star Wars was always pitched more to a general audience and is more a standard adventure story with space trappings than traditional sci-fi. But Star Wars — or at least being a big fan — was still considered pretty geeky at least through the ‘90’s.

  3. Star Trek has more. Star Wars may be more popular, but the vast majority of its fan base are what I'd call "Superficial Fans," meaning they're only into the movies and The Mandalorian and don't care to explore the EU.
